GENERAL SUMMARY:

We are seeking a qualified Safety Coordinator to support the implementation and enforcement of environmental, health, and safety programs within Oil City Iron Works, Inc., an iron foundry. This position works under the direction of the EHS Manager and Night Shift Superintendent to promote a safe work environment, ensure regulatory compliance, conduct safety inspections, investigate incidents, deliver employee training, and support continuous improvement of safety performance during night shift operations.

This position will report directly to the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager and Night Shift Superintendent. This reporting structure typically means the Safety Coordinator has dual responsibilities to:

• The EHS Manager, who provides guidance on safety programs, regulatory compliance, training, investigations, and overall EHS strategy.
• The Night Shift Superintendent, who directs day-to-day operational priorities, production coordination, and shift-specific safety activities.

Additionally, this position will work closely with production supervisors, maintenance personnel, and department managers to ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.

Finally, this position will serve as a safety resource for hourly and salaried employees during assigned shifts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct workplace safety inspections and audits
• Investigate accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents
• Develop corrective actions and track completion
• Lead safety meetings and employee training
• Maintain OSHA logs and safety records
• Monitor compliance with environmental and safety regulations
• Coordinate emergency response drills
• Ensure proper use of PPE and safe work practices
• Work with supervisors to reduce workplace hazards
• Transport injured employees for medical treatment at local ER/Urgent Care Center as needed
